• All Things Dexter…20 Months

He usually watches me take outfit pics from his car seat but on this particular day I decided to let him out and stretch his legs. On his own he walked straight up to the wall, stopping a few feet away, turned around and slowly backed up to it. Then, giving me an especially mischievous smile…. he started to pose! So of course I obliged and snapped a few photos. I’d say he’s got that whole casual “look off to the side and pretend there is something incredibly interesting over there” thing, down down’t you? I’m thinking we may need add a new outfit post- mini edition to the blog!

Can’t believe my little baby is 20 months old and I really can’t comprehend the fact that in just a few more months I will be the mother of a two year old! It really does go by so much faster than anyone can prepare you for. He continues to be the most energetic and busy little boy. Most days I struggle to keep up and try make a conscious effort to jot down any special or funny moments along the way. So here is my little collection of memories from this past month, little memories scribbled on post it notes, receipts and even the occasional email to myself.

-He will drag his hula hoop to the center of the room, lay it on the floor and standing in the center shakes his shoulders and hips proudly smiling at me.

-We’ve officially hit the “no” phase. I asked him if he wanted to take a nap…”no”….. then asked, “are you sure you don’t want to take a nap?”…. “no”…then “Do you have any idea what you are actually saying saying?”…………..(shakes head)”no”.

-He randomly will start walking backwards saying….”beep, beep, beep”

-Refuses to drink from anything unless it is a teacup or has a straw.

-After being warned he would be put in time out if he didn’t put away mommies ‘books’ (said books more accurately described as the latest Vogue, Elle, and Home Decor mags) He quickly cleaned them up and put himself in time out.

-He loves to help me cook. Every night he pulls up a chair himself. I hand him bits and pieces of veggies I’m using, a small bowl and spoon and he gets right to work. He always asks for the salt and pepper to season his creations as well.

-He gives tons of kisses to delay nap time and I gladly accept every single one…..those kisses won’t be around forever so I’ll take as many as I can get regardless of whether they come with a hidden agenda or not.

One Response so far.
