• All Things Dexter…18 & 19 Months

Ooops I just realized that I missed last months Dexter post! I’ll try keep this one short and sweet while cramming in two months worth. He is growing faster than ever it seems and changing everyday. Cant believe he is 19 months and man this age is so much fun and he has me laughing everyday with all his silliness. The following are just a few special moments and my favorite things about him this past month….. or two.

-When we wash the dog he cradles her face in his hands and puts his face right up to hers and says ever so gently “good girl”

-He is obsessed with our friends dog, Lola and calls every dog Lola including our own!

-How he calls my brother “Day-Day” and his wife “Nay-Nay” and how he still looks for them around the house sometimes. Talk about heartbreaking…sniff, sniff.

-His incredibly nerdy, cheesy chuckle of a laugh that is borderline creepy. Oh how I hope it never changes! I want to remember that sound forever.

-I always want to remember how sweetly he calls me Mama right now.

-How bossy and demanding he sounds when he calls for “DAAAAAAAAAd”

-How he stacks everything these days, blocks, cars, food…bread and olives. You name it and it is getting meticulously stacked only to be sent crashing down later with a huge ” WHOOOAAAA”

-How he sikes himself out into thinking the dog is chasing him and listening to his excited shrieks as he runs away from her when in all reality she is laying in the corner looking so confused as to what he is on about.

-How he wraps his arms around me and hugs me tight and says “oohh cooooold” when its chilly out.

-How he drinks his green smoothie like its the best treat in the world…..I know these days are numbered!

-How he thinks everything is going to be a yes as long as he says “pweeeese” Let me tell ya it’s hard to say no after he asks like that.

-How when he is done breastfeeding for the night he rolls over and then snuggles back into me and grabs my hand and has to hold it while he falls asleep.

I realize none of these are ground breaking things that no toddler has ever done before but they are ground breaking to me. My heart stops with every new word and I hold my breath with every new discovery. All of these little moments are so very precious but they are just that….little. Little tiny insignificant moments and I’m so afraid if I don’t write them all down they’ll fade away until they are completely forgotten. So now here they are these tiny little moments on my tiny little blog, written and recorded for years to come so that no matter how big life gets I’ll always remember the little things along the way.
